Anne Hathaway lends her classic beauty to the March issue of InStyle magazine, as she adorns the cover in a gorgeous purple gown (one that looks eerily similar to Sandra Bullock’s Bottega Veneta Golden Globes stunner) and her radiant, porcelain glow. The actress, who can be seen this Friday in “Valentine’s Day,” discusses her latest role as the White Queen in Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland,” as well as her self-image (she’s incredibly modest) and how she finds balance and happiness.
There is no question that Anne is absolutely gorgeous, but this humble actress doesn’t necessarily think so. “I think I’ve got really weird features. I have very large features on a very small head. But, you know, I’m not going to beat myself up… I look like myself, and I think at the end of the day, as nice as pretty is, authenticity is more important,” she says. But don’t get her wrong — she still loves to dress up and believes in keeping up her appearance. “If I don’t work out at all, I have too much curve and no tone—which is not OK. It’s about finding balance,” she says. As far as her style goes, she admits there’s a time and place for everything. “In the evening it would never occur to me to go out in motorcycle boots like this. I love going out in high heels and dressing up and glamming it up, and having there be a distinction between what happened throughout the day and the evening.”
This style icon adds Marc Jacobs as one of her “all-time favorite designers,” and also has a list of fellow actors who demonstrate “innovation and originality,” including Tilda Swinton, Gwen Stefani, Lady Gaga, Selma Blair and Natalie Portman. Anne admits,“I like people who are true to themselves.”
Anne hits the big screen in Tim Burton’s remake of the classic “Alice in Wonderland,” and she couldn’t be more excited about the role. “When I found out Tim Burton was on, I basically went into the studio and said, ‘I’m here, I want to play the White Queen. I’m just letting you know I will do anything to be in this movie.'”
It’s pretty clear that Anne has got it all under control. With a fresh outlook on herself and her career, she admits she’s happy. “I’m enjoying myself very, very, very much. Happiness is a nice feeling.”
